For regulated consumer credit, mortgage brokers must act in your best interests and prioritise your interests when providing credit assistance. Our recommendations are based on your requirements and objectives, and we will explain why a recommended option is considered to be in your best interests.
Before providing credit assistance for regulated consumer credit we assess whether the loan is unsuitable for you, based on your requirements, objectives and financial situation. We will ask you for information and documents to make that assessment โ a copy of our preliminary assessment is available on request within the timeframes set by the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth).
Where required, we will give you a credit proposal or quote before credit assistance proceeds, showing fees and commissions for your specific loan.
If something goes wrong, please tell us โ our internal dispute resolution process and timeframes are on the complaints page. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you can contact the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), a free and independent external dispute resolution scheme, at afca.org.au or 1800 931 678.
